Klaviyo - Emailing Paused Subscribers

Initial Flow Creation

Creating an automation that sends emails to your paused customers is easy thanks to to the unique events and triggers Appstle sends to Klaviyo. The first step in configuring this automation is creating a Klaviyo Flow.

If you're familiar with Klaviyo flows feel free to skip ahead to the next section.

To create a flow start by navigating to the Flows section in Klaviyo then click Create flow.

This will bring you to a new page where you'll see a list of templates for potential flows. For this flow, you'll need to click on Build your own.

Now all that's left to do is give your flow a name and click Create flow. You can ignore the Tags field for this specific flow we'll be creating.

If you'd like more detailed guidance please watch our video below.

Flow Triggers and Conditions

The trigger we'll be using will be the Subscription Paused event, which is triggered anytime a customer with an active subscription pauses their subscription. To select this trigger follow the steps below.

Select a trigger → Your metrics → API → Subscription paused Event from Appstle

Next you'll want to add an email below the trigger, which will be sent to your customer immediately after they've paused their subscription.

Now is where you can decide to either end the flow after one email or you can configure a few more steps to email your paused subscribers after a specified amount of time.

In the example below, we'll be emailing any paused subscribers (we'll check if they're still paused) after three days.

To do so you'll want to select Time Delay and set the delay in the next email for the amount of time you want.

Next you'll want to set Conditional Split and copy the configuration below. Make sure that the the tag you enter matches your specific paused subscriber tag!

Once you've correctly configured the conditional, all that's left to do is add another email, which will be sent to your paused subscribers 3 days after they've paused.

If you followed all of the steps above you've successfully created an automated series of emails that will send to all of your paused subscribers!
