By default, a location offers all your products for store pickup and local delivery. Use Product availability when a location should handle only some of them, for example one location that prepares only coffee and another that handles everything else. You set it separately for each method, by product, variant, collection, product tag, vendor or product type, and by whether the customer buys a subscription or a one-time purchase.
Before you start
Enable Store pickup or Local delivery on the location. See Add and manage pickup and delivery locations.
Choose the products a location offers
In the app, go to Locations and open the location.
In the Store pickup or Local delivery card, click Show settings. If the button is greyed out, click Enable instead, and the settings open.
In the Product availability card, open Choose products available from this location and choose an option from the table below.
Click Save.
Repeat for the other method and for each location. The two methods are separate: a location can offer all products for delivery and only some for pickup.
Each option works like this.
Option | What to do |
All products | Every product is included. Under Purchase type, choose Both, Subscription or One-time. |
Specific products | Click Select products, search for and check the products, then click Done. |
Specific variants | Click Select variants, check the variants, then click Select. |
Specific collections | Click Select collections, check the collections, then click Done. |
Specific product tags | Click Select tags, check the tags, then click Done. |
Specific vendors | Click Select vendors, check the vendors, then click Done. |
Specific product types | Click Select product types, check the types, then click Done. |
You must select at least one item for every option except All products. The page asks you to select at least one before you can save.
Limit a location to subscriptions or one-time purchases
Purchase type decides which kind of purchase a location accepts.
Purchase type | The location is offered when |
Both | The cart has subscription products, one-time purchases, or a mix of both. |
Subscription | Every product in the cart is bought as a subscription. |
One-time | Every product in the cart is a one-time purchase. |
With All products, you set one purchase type for the whole location. With Specific products, Specific variants or Specific collections, each item you select is listed under the button with its own Both, Subscription and One-time switch. That way one product can be offered for subscriptions only while another is offered for both. Tags, vendors and product types have no purchase type, so they match subscriptions and one-time purchases alike.
What customers see
For store pickup, the cart widget lists only the locations that can serve everything in the customer's cart. For local delivery, customers don't choose a location. The app uses a location that can deliver everything in the cart to the customer's address, and the calendar shows that location's days and times. If you limit delivery by radius or driving distance, it uses the closest one.
If no location can serve the cart for a method, customers see Sorry, pickup is not available for your selected items. or Sorry, local delivery is not available for your selected items. You can change these messages in Settings → Text and translations, under Pickup not available for items label in the Pickup Widget group and Delivery not available for items label in the Delivery Widget group.
Things to know
Every item must match. Product availability never splits a cart. If one item doesn't match, the location isn't offered for that method.
Tags, vendors and product types ignore capital letters. "Coffee" and "coffee" match the same product. A product with no vendor or no product type never matches a vendor or type rule.
Pickup stock. If you turn on Enable pickup inventory in Settings → Inventory, a pickup location that you linked to a Shopify location under Location map is also left out when that Shopify location doesn't have enough stock for the cart.
Conditional activation is separate. To turn store pickup or local delivery off for a whole cart, for example below a minimum order value, see Offer store pickup only for some carts and Offer local delivery only for some carts.
Using Appstle Subscriptions? For the full setup across both apps, from the subscription plan to the rates, see How to set up Local Pickup & Local Delivery for a specific purchase type.
FAQs
Why isn't a location offered for a cart?
Check the location's Product availability card for that method. Every product in the cart must be on the list, with a matching purchase type. If you choose tags, vendors or product types, check the exact spelling on the product in Shopify.
Why can't I save the location after changing Product availability?
You chose an option that needs a selection, such as Specific products, but didn't select anything. Select at least one item or switch back to All products.
Can two locations offer the same product?
Yes. For store pickup, customers see every location that can serve their whole cart and choose one. For local delivery, the app uses one of them for the customer's address, the closest one if you limit delivery by radius or driving distance.
