Choose the days customers can receive local delivery

Turn on the delivery date picker and choose the days each location delivers: every day, certain weekdays or specific dates.

Choose which days customers can have orders delivered from each location. Turn on the delivery date picker and the cart widget shows a calendar where customers pick a delivery date. You can deliver every day, on certain days of the week, or on a list of specific dates. Each location has its own calendar.

Before you start

Turn on the delivery date and time pickers

The pickers are one setting for the whole store, so they apply to every location.

  1. In the app, go to Settings → Local delivery.

  2. Open Checkout experience.

  3. Under Date and time pickers, check Enable delivery date picker.

  4. To let customers choose a time as well, check Enable delivery time picker. The time picker only works while the date picker is on.

  5. Click Save.

Two more settings change how customers use the pickers.

Setting

What it does

Delivery date is required

Shown when the date picker is on. When it's checked, customers can't check out until they choose a date, and a time when the day has times to choose from. Uncheck it to let them skip the date and time.

Preselect first available time

When it's checked, the first time on the list is chosen for the customer as soon as they pick a date.

Choose the delivery days

  1. In the app, go to Locations and open the location.

  2. In the Local delivery card, click Show settings. If the button is greyed out, click Enable instead, and the settings open.

  3. Under Delivery availability, choose one of the three options in the table below. For Specific days of the week or Specific dates of the year, also follow the steps in its section below.

  4. Click Save.

Repeat for each location that offers delivery.

Option

Use it when

Every day of the week

You deliver from this location every day.

Specific days of the week

You deliver on the same weekdays every week, for example Monday to Saturday.

Specific dates of the year

You only deliver on certain dates, for example holiday delivery days.

Specific days of the week

  1. Select Specific days of the week.

  2. Under Select delivery days:, check each day you deliver. You must check at least one day.

  3. Click Save.

Specific dates of the year

  1. Select Specific dates of the year.

  2. Click the Delivery dates button, pick a date and click Add date. To add a range, pick a start and an end date and click Add dates.

  3. Repeat for each date or range.

  4. Click Save.

The dates you add are listed in the card. To find dates in a long list, use the All months and All years menus. To remove dates, check them and click Delete selected.

Until you add at least one date, the card shows Delivery dates missing, and you can't save the location.

What customers see

In the cart widget, customers choose Local Delivery. If you limit delivery to certain areas, they first enter their postal code or address. Once they're eligible, a Date field opens a calendar that shows your delivery days. Days that aren't open can't be selected. If you turned on the time picker, customers then choose a time. See Set delivery times and time slots.

The labels in the widget can be changed under Settings → Text and translations, in the Delivery Widget group.

Things to know

  • The calendar needs the date picker. While Enable delivery date picker is off, customers get no calendar. The Delivery availability, Delivery slots, Future orders, Blackout dates, Product date restrictions and Delivery preparation time cards still show on the location, but they have no effect. Only the Delivery order limits card hides itself.

  • Other settings remove days too. Preparation time, blackout dates, order limits, daily inventory and product date restrictions can take days out of the calendar, even on delivery days. With the time picker on, the calendar also skips today once all of today's delivery slots have ended, counting preparation time.

  • How far ahead customers can book. Without a limit, customers can pick any future delivery day. To set one, use the Future orders card on the location. See Limit how far ahead customers can choose a delivery date.

  • Subscriptions use the same days. When a customer changes the date of a subscription delivery in the Appstle Subscriptions customer portal, the portal offers the same delivery days and times.

FAQs

Why can't customers select today?

Preparation time, or its cutoff time, is probably pushing the first date to tomorrow, or all of today's delivery slots have ended. Check the Delivery preparation time card on the location. See Set a preparation time for local delivery orders.

Why is a day greyed out in the calendar?

The day isn't one of your delivery days, or something else closed it: a blackout date, a full order limit, a product date restriction or preparation time. See Block local delivery on specific dates and Limit how many orders you accept per day or time slot.

Customers can check out without choosing a date. Why?

Check that Enable delivery date picker and Delivery date is required are both checked in Settings → Local delivery → Checkout experience. If Delivery date is required is unchecked, customers can skip the date and time. Express checkout buttons, such as Shop Pay or Apple Pay, go straight to checkout without the widget's checks, so those orders can come in without a date. See Let customers choose pickup, delivery or shipping in the cart.
