Limit how far ahead customers can choose a delivery date

Set how many days, weeks or months ahead customers can choose a delivery date.

Use a future order limit when you can't plan far ahead, for example when your stock or delivery schedule changes every few weeks. Customers can then only choose delivery dates from today up to the limit you set.

Each location has its own limit, so one location can take orders a month ahead while another only takes orders for the coming week.

Before you start

  • Check Enable delivery date picker in Settings → Local delivery → Checkout experience. Without it, customers don't see a calendar and the limit has no effect. This setting applies to all your locations.

Set a future order limit

  1. In the app, go to Locations and open the location.

  2. In the Local delivery card, click Show settings.

  3. In the Future orders card, check Restrict future orders.

  4. Under Customers can select a delivery date within the next, enter a number and choose Days, Weeks or Months under Type.

  5. Click Save.

The limit counts from today. For example, on 27 October with a limit of 2 weeks, customers can choose delivery dates up to and including 10 November.

Allow same-day delivery only

Follow the steps above and enter 0 as the number. The card then shows Same-day delivery only, and customers can only choose today.

Today still has to pass your other delivery settings. If it doesn't, for example because today isn't one of your days in Delivery availability, your last slot in Delivery slots has ended or your preparation time is 1 day or more, customers have no date to choose.

What customers see

Wherever customers choose a delivery date, dates after the limit are greyed out and can't be chosen.

Things to know

  • Other rules still apply. Inside the limit, customers can only choose days you deliver, dates that aren't blacked out or fully booked, and dates your preparation time allows.

  • Settings are per location. Repeat these steps for each location that offers local delivery. Store pickup has its own limit. See Limit how far ahead customers can choose a pickup date.

FAQs

Why can't customers choose dates after a certain day?

Open the location, click Show settings in the Local delivery card and look at the Future orders card. If Restrict future orders is checked, customers can't choose dates after the limit. Raise the number or uncheck it, then click Save.

How do I remove the limit?

Uncheck Restrict future orders and click Save. Customers can then choose dates as far ahead as your other delivery settings allow.
