Offer store pickup only for some carts

Turn store pickup on or off based on the cart's order value or the products in it.

Conditional activation lets you offer store pickup only for some carts. You can base it on the cart's order value, on the products in the cart (by collection, product type, tag or vendor), or both. When a cart doesn't qualify, the cart widget explains why and customers can't check out with pickup.

These settings apply to every location. Local delivery and shipping have the same settings on their own settings pages.

Set a minimum or maximum order value

  1. In the app, go to Settings → Store pickup.

  2. Under Conditional activation, choose Order Value in the first list.

  3. In the second list, choose At least or Less than.

  4. Enter the amount in the box.

  5. Leave Enable checked, so pickup is offered when the cart matches the condition.

  6. Click Save.

For example, Order Value, At least, 20 with Enable checked offers pickup only on orders of $20 or more. To turn the condition off, clear the amount.

What the Enable checkbox does

The Enable checkbox decides whether matching carts can or can't use pickup.

Enable

Pickup is offered when

Example: Order Value, At least, 20

Checked

The cart matches the condition

Orders of $20 or more

Unchecked

The cart doesn't match the condition

Orders under $20

Offer pickup only for certain products

  1. Under Conditional activation, check Conditional activation by product type, collection, vendor or tags.

  2. In the list below it, choose Collection, Product Type, Tags or Vendor.

  3. In the box next to it, enter one or more values, separated by commas. For collections, use the collection titles.

  4. Check or uncheck Enable, as described below.

  5. Click Save.

With Enable checked, pickup is offered only when every product in the cart matches one of the values. With Enable unchecked, pickup isn't offered if any product in the cart matches.

For example, Tags, online-only with Enable unchecked turns off pickup whenever the cart contains a product tagged online-only.

Hide the pickup option

By default, customers can still select pickup and see a message that explains why it isn't available. Check Hide the pickup button in the widget to hide the pickup option instead when the products in the cart don't qualify. This option appears once you turn on Conditional activation by product type, collection, vendor or tags.

What customers see

When a cart doesn't qualify, the pickup tab in the cart widget shows a message instead of your locations, and customers can't check out with pickup. The message depends on the condition:

  • Order value: "Minimum order value for pickup is …" or "Maximum order value for pickup is …", with your amount.

  • Products: "Sorry, pickup is not available for your selected items."

You can change these messages in Settings → Text and translations, under Pickup widget.

Things to know

  • Unchecking Enable doesn't turn a condition off. The app starts with Order Value, At least, 0. If you uncheck Enable on that, pickup is never offered. To turn the condition off, clear the amount.

  • Values must match exactly. Product types, vendors, tags and collection titles are compared exactly as you type them, including capital letters.

  • Both conditions apply. If you set an order value and a product condition, the cart must pass both.

  • Hiding only works for product conditions. Hide the pickup button in the widget doesn't hide pickup when only the order value condition fails. Customers see the message instead.

  • Locations can also limit products. To offer only some products at a single location, use Product availability on that location instead.

FAQs

How do I offer pickup only on orders over a certain amount?

Choose Order Value and At least, enter the amount, keep Enable checked and click Save.

How do I stop pickup for a product that can't be collected, like a frozen item?

Tag the product in Shopify, for example no-pickup. Then turn on Conditional activation by product type, collection, vendor or tags, choose Tags, enter no-pickup and uncheck Enable.
