Your Customer Portal is where customers manage their own subscriptions: they can skip, pause, swap products, change frequency, and update details without contacting you. This guide walks you through choosing a portal type and setting it up.
Customer portal
Choose how your customers will manage their subscriptions. You make this choice in the Customer portal step of Setup readiness on your Appstle dashboard. You can change this later in Customer Portal settings.
The Customer portal step in Setup readiness, with Classic Customer Portal (Recommended) and Portal styling options.
There are two portal types:
Classic Customer Portal (Recommended): a standalone portal with more customization options and greater flexibility for branding and advanced features.
Shopify Extension Customer Portal: integrated with Shopify's new customer accounts, with a native look and feel that matches your store's account pages.
Shopify places size limits on customer account extensions, so some customization options and features may not be available in the Extension Portal. For broader customization and full feature support, use the Classic Customer Portal.

Portal styling
When you select Classic Customer Portal, choose a Portal styling:
Match your store theme: adopts your storefront's colors and branding so the portal feels like part of your online store.
Shopify account styling: a clean, neutral look that matches Shopify's customer account pages, independent of your store theme.
Set up the Classic Customer Portal
Click Set up the Classic Customer Portal under the Classic option to see the setup details:
Your Classic Customer Portal is available at the URL below.
Add the Manage Subscription Button to your Account and Order pages.
Customers who click that button land on the portal, where they manage their own subscriptions.
Below these, the Portal URL box shows your portal address, which follows this pattern:
https://your-store.myshopify.com/apps/subscriptions
Click the copy icon and add this URL to your store menu.
Customers who are not signed in get a login page where they can request a secure link by email. You manage that page under Customer Portal Login in portal settings.
Two buttons sit under the Portal URL box:
Open theme editor: opens your Shopify theme editor, where you can add the Manage Subscription Button.
Open portal settings: opens the Customer Portal settings in Appstle.
Here's what that looks like:
Set up the Classic Customer Portal: the three setup bullets, the Portal URL box, and the Open theme editor and Open portal settings buttons.
For details on placing and styling the button, see Manage Subscription Button.
Customize your portal
Click Open portal settings to open the Customer Portal page, where you customize the look, feel, and functionality of your portal. It has these tabs:

Shopify Extension Customer Portal
If you choose the Shopify Extension Customer Portal, Appstle asks you to confirm with Change portal type?. Click Confirm. Customers will then manage subscriptions inside their Shopify account using the portal blocks.

The Added tab lists each block and the page it was added to.
Step 6. Add each block. When you add a block, Shopify asks where to add it. For Subscription management, use Accounts (shown on the block). For Manage Subscription Button, choose Profile, Orders, or Order status from the Add to prompt.
Here's what that looks like:

If you see a block labeled DEPRECATED in the Appstle Subscription list, don't use it. To move to the current blocks, see this migration guide.
Give customers access
Open the Subscription management page in the editor. Shopify shows: “To give customers access to this page, create a new menu for Store default or add this page to the existing menu.” Click Create menu or Add to menu. Save your changes in the editor.
