What this video covers
The Renewal day & cutoff step (Schedule) of a subscription option: renewing on each customer's sign-up date, on one day for everyone, or on fixed calendar dates; the renewal cutoff and what it does to a new sign-up; trying a sign-up date in How it works; and where customers see their next renewal.
In short
Open your plan, click Edit on a subscription option and choose Schedule. Renewal schedule has three choices: Purchase date, Specific day and Fixed calendar dates. How it works, on the right, shows what your choice does: click a day on its calendar to try a sign-up date.
Purchase date counts each customer's renewals from the day they subscribed. Specific day renews everyone on the same day: a monthly option asks for the renewal day, a weekly one for the weekday, and a yearly one for the month and day. It needs weekly, monthly or yearly deliveries (change Deliver every in Basics).
Without a cutoff, someone who signs up just before the renewal day is charged again on that day. Renewal cutoff prevents that: choose a number of days (up to 31 on a monthly option), and the line under it names the sign-up dates it covers. Someone who signs up inside it still pays at checkout, but their first order stays Scheduled until the renewal day, and their next charge is on the renewal day after that. On Prepaid, auto renew and Prepaid, one time, these are called Delivery day and Delivery cutoff.
With Fixed calendar dates, subscriptions renew only on the dates you add; it needs Pay as you go (under How customers pay in Basics). Choose a month and a day and click Add date, or use Multiple dates to add every day you pick to every month you pick. A schedule needs at least two dates, up to 24 a year. Billing frequency at checkout is the interval customers see at checkout and in their portal; your dates decide when renewals are charged. Someone who signs up inside the cutoff here gets their first order ready to ship right away, but skips the next billing date.
Changes apply to new subscriptions; current subscribers keep their dates. Click Done to keep your changes, then save the plan to put them live. Customers see their next renewal under Next Renewal Date in their customer portal.
