What Order cutoff does
When a customer signs up close to your renewal day, they could be charged again only a few days after their first order. Order cutoff sets how many days before the renewal day count as inside the cutoff.
The first order is always created right away (it shows as Unfulfilled and ships as normal). If the signup falls inside the cutoff, only the next renewal charge is skipped.
Where to find it
Open your subscription plan and go to Schedule → Renewal schedule.
Under Renewal day & deadlines, find Order cutoff.
Choose the number of days. The default is No cutoff.
Allowed ranges
Weekly: 1–7 days
Monthly: 1–31 days
Yearly: 1–365 days
Note: Order cutoff appears when the renewal day is set to Specific day or Fixed calendar dates. Purchase date does not show Order cutoff — renewals follow each customer’s own signup date, and the screen explains that no cutoff is needed.
Order cutoff under Renewal day & deadlines with Specific day selected.
Order cutoff is also available with Fixed calendar dates.
With Purchase date, Order cutoff isn’t shown and the screen explains no cutoff is needed.
How it works
Outside the cutoff: the customer’s first order is created right away and the next renewal is charged on the upcoming renewal day as usual.
Inside the cutoff: the first order is still created right away, and the upcoming renewal charge is skipped. The next charge happens on the following renewal day.
Important: Order cutoff never holds or delays the first order. It only decides whether the next renewal charge is skipped.
Examples
Weekly: renews every Monday, 3-day cutoff
A customer signs up on Saturday, which is inside the 3-day cutoff. They are charged at checkout and their first order is created right away. The renewal on the coming Monday is skipped, and their next charge is on the following Monday.
Monthly: renews on the 1st, 5-day cutoff
A customer signs up on October 28, which is inside the 5-day cutoff before November 1. Their first order is created and ships right away. The November 1 charge is skipped, and their next charge is on December 1.
