Set up a Classic bundle

Sell several products together as one Shopify product, with its own page and price.

A Classic bundle sells several products together as one product in your store. Appstle creates a Shopify bundle product for you, with the products you pick as its parts. Shoppers add the bundle to their cart once, see it as one bundle at checkout and pay the bundle product's price. Use it for sets, kits and gift boxes that need a product page of their own.

A Classic bundle has no discount, free gifts, subscriptions, customer tags or dates: shoppers pay the price of the bundle product in Shopify. To sell the same set with a discount, free gifts or subscriptions, use a Combo bundle instead.

Before you start

  • Check Shopify's bundle requirements. Shopify bundles don't work with every store setup.

  • Make sure the Appstle Bundles app embed is on in your live theme. Step 4 checks it for you.

  • Pick products that are not bundles themselves. A product that is already a bundle can't be added.

Create a Classic bundle

  1. In your Shopify admin, open the Appstle Bundles app and go to Bundles & Discounts.

  2. Select Create offer.

  3. Under Buy products together, select Classic bundle.

  4. Select Start with Classic bundle.

The editor has five steps. Work through them in order, or select any step on the left.

Step 1: What's in the bundle

  1. Under Products in the bundle, select Add products and pick the products.

  2. Use the quantity field on each row to set how many of that product one bundle contains.

  3. For a product with several variants, open the three-dot menu on its row and select Choose variants. Pick one variant to always include it, or several to let shoppers choose.

  4. Under Names, enter the Title shoppers see, an optional Description, and a Name in your admin that only you and your team see. If your store has more than one language, select Translate to add the title and description in each language.

The title and description become the Shopify bundle product's title and description.

After the first save, step 1 also has Refresh from Shopify. Use it after you change a product's name, variants or price in Shopify. It loads the latest details and removes products that are deleted or drafts in Shopify. Then save the offer.

Step 2: Bundle price

This step adds up what the products in step 1 cost on their own, under Bought separately. Before the first save, it also has a Bundle price field. Enter the price shoppers pay, above 0. When you launch the offer or save it as a draft, Appstle creates the bundle product in Shopify at that price.

Every variant of the bundle starts at this price. From then on, change prices in Shopify, where you can also give each variant its own price. Saving the offer keeps the prices you set there.

To change the price later, or show the saving with a compare-at price:

  1. Open this step and select Change price in Shopify, or open the bundle product in your Shopify admin.

  2. In the Price card, enter the bundle price.

  3. To show the saving, enter the Bought separately total in Compare-at price, under Additional display prices.

  4. Select Save.

After the first save, this step shows the price Appstle read from Shopify at your last save. If you change the price in Shopify, the new price shows here after your next save.

Step 3: Look and texts

This step shows the texts and colors the bundle uses. They come from your store settings, so they're the same on every Classic bundle:

  • Heading above the products: "Your bundle contains the following products." It's a store text, so it shows instead of the offer's description. If you clear it, the description shows there.

  • Note on the products' pages: "This product is part of a bundle".

  • Link to the bundle: "View Complete Bundle".

Select Edit store texts to change them, or Edit colors and fonts to change the look. Classic bundles use your store's Text and Headings colors and fonts.

Step 4: Where it shows

Shoppers see what's in the bundle only where the Appstle Classic Bundle app block is on the product page, or where you paste its snippet. The app embed must be on too. The step checks both.

  1. Under Where it shows, check that your app embed is on. If it's off, select Turn it on, save in the theme editor, then select Check again.

  2. Under Blocks, check your product template. A new bundle product uses your default product template, so add the block there before you launch. If a row shows No block yet, select Add it for me. Shopify's theme editor opens with the block added. Select Save there.

  3. Optional: turn on Also show on the products' pages. The pages of the products inside the bundle then show what's in it, the note "This product is part of a bundle" and a link to the bundle.

Products that share a template need the block added only once. To place the bundle somewhere else, select Paste the snippet instead.

Under Order tags, Tags to add puts tags on orders that include the bundle product (appstle_bundles by default). Select Add a variable to add the offer's code, title or type to a tag. A Classic bundle creates no Shopify discount, so Shopify discount tags has no effect.

Step 5: Review and launch

  1. Read the checks. Fix anything marked as a warning, such as a missing app block.

  2. Select Launch offer.

Appstle creates the bundle as a product in Shopify and publishes it to your sales channels. A Classic bundle has no schedule, so it's live as soon as you launch. Select Save as draft instead to create the Shopify product as a draft and keep working. After you launch, open the bundle product in Shopify to add its images, and a compare-at price if you want to show the saving (see step 2). Appstle creates the product without images or a compare-at price.

What shoppers see

Shoppers open the bundle's product page, see its price and add it to the cart like any other product. The app block lists the products inside with their pictures and quantities. If you turned on Also show on the products' pages, the pages of the products inside the bundle also show what's in it, the note "This product is part of a bundle" and a link to the bundle.

Things to know

  • A bundle can have up to 30 products. Up to 3 of them can offer a choice of variants, and the bundle can have up to 100 variant combinations in total.

  • Classic bundles are one-time purchases. To sell the same set as a subscription, use a Combo bundle.

  • A Classic bundle has no Appstle discount, free gifts, customer tags, start or end date, or stacking rules. To discount the bundle product, use Shopify's own discounts.

  • Each save of the offer updates the bundle product's name, description, status, variants and parts in Shopify, so edit the name and description in the offer, not in Shopify. The prices and images you set in Shopify stay.

  • When a save adds variants to the bundle, for example after you let shoppers pick another variant, check the new variants' prices in Shopify.

  • Turning the offer off sets its bundle product to Draft in Shopify, so shoppers can't see or buy the bundle. Turning the offer on sets the product back to Active.

  • Deleting the offer also deletes its bundle product in Shopify. To stop selling the bundle and keep the product, turn the offer off instead.

  • A duplicated offer becomes its own bundle product in Shopify when you launch it. Check its Bundle price in step 2 first: it starts at the original's price. Images and changes you made to the original product in Shopify aren't copied.

  • Two store settings, Enable Bundle Recreation and Enable Classic Bundle Recreation On Option Changes, make each save rebuild the bundle product's variants in Shopify. Variant IDs change, and anything set on the variants in Shopify, such as SKUs, barcodes and variant images, is lost. Appstle carries each variant's price over to the new variant with the same options. Step 1 warns you when one of them is on.

FAQs

Why don't shoppers see what's in the bundle?

Check these in order:

  1. The Appstle Classic Bundle app block is on the bundle product's template. In step 4, select Add it for me if it shows No block yet.

  2. The app embed is on. In step 4, select Turn it on if it's off.

  3. The offer is on, and the bundle product is Active in Shopify.

Why is the bundle priced at the total of its products?

Bundles created before November 5, 2026 were priced at the total of their products. A variant you add later can also start at the total. Open the product in Shopify, set your price, and a compare-at price if you want to show the saving. Saving the offer keeps the price you set.

What happens to the Shopify product if I delete the offer?

It's deleted too. To stop selling the bundle and keep the product, turn the offer off instead. Appstle sets the product to Draft in Shopify, and back to Active when you turn the offer on again.

Can I add a bundle to another bundle?

No. Products that are bundles themselves can't be added.

Can shoppers pick a variant?

Yes, for up to 3 products in the bundle. In step 1, open the three-dot menu on the product's row, select Choose variants and pick the variants shoppers can choose from.
