Order tags help you find and filter orders in Shopify, for example to see every pickup order or only the deliveries planned for Friday. Appstle can tag each pickup, local delivery and shipping order automatically when the customer places it, with your own tags and with the date, time and day of the week the customer chose. You can tag all orders of a method, or only the orders from one location.
Before you start
Turn on the method you want to tag (Store pickup, Local delivery or Shipping) under Settings.
For date and day-of-week tags, customers must choose a date in the cart, and for time tags also a time. An order without a date or time gets no such tag.
Store pickup: open each location under Locations, click Show settings in the Store pickup card, and turn on Enable pickup date picker and Enable pickup time picker in Date and time pickers.
Local delivery: turn on Enable delivery date picker and Enable delivery time picker under Settings → Local delivery → Checkout experience → Date and time pickers.
Shipping: click Enable under Settings → Shipping → Date picker. Shipping has no time picker.
Tag every pickup, delivery or shipping order
Each method has its own tag card with these options.
Method | Where | What you can add |
Store pickup | Settings → Store pickup → Pickup order tags | Your own tags, plus the pickup date, pickup time and pickup day of week |
Local delivery | Settings → Local delivery → Checkout experience → Delivery order tags | Your own tags, plus the delivery date, delivery time and delivery day of week |
Shipping | Settings → Shipping → Shipping order tags | Your own tags, plus the shipping date |
In the app, click Settings, then open Store pickup, Local delivery or Shipping. In Local delivery, click Checkout experience first to expand it.
In Pickup order tags, Delivery order tags or Shipping order tags, type a tag and click Add tag. Repeat for each tag you want.
To tag orders with the customer's date, check Tag order with pickup date, Tag order with delivery date or Tag order with shipping date, then choose a date format.
To tag orders with the customer's time, check Tag order with pickup time or Tag order with delivery time.
To tag orders with the day of the week, check Tag order with pickup day of week or Tag order with delivery day of week.
Click Save.
The date tag uses the format you choose. For a date of 17 August 2026, each format gives this tag:
Date format | Tag |
MM/DD/YYYY (American) | 08/17/2026 |
DD/MM/YYYY (European) | 17/08/2026 |
YYYY/MM/DD (International) | 2026/08/17 |
MM-DD-YYYY (American) | 08-17-2026 |
DD-MM-YYYY (European) | 17-08-2026 |
YYYY-MM-DD (International) | 2026-08-17 |
The time tag is the time slot the customer chose, as shown in the cart, for example 9:00 AM - 9:30 AM. The day-of-week tag is the English name of the chosen day, for example Monday. Time and day-of-week tags are only available for store pickup and local delivery.
Tag orders from one location
Use location tags when you want to tell locations apart, for example to give every order from your Brooklyn location the tag Brooklyn.
In the app, click Locations and open the location.
In the Store pickup or Local delivery card, click Show settings. If the button is greyed out, the method is off for this location: click Enable first.
Scroll down to the Pickup tags or Delivery tags card, type a tag and click Add tag. Repeat for each tag.
Click Save.
An order gets both the location's tags and the tags you set under Settings. Shipping orders have no location tags.
Where you see the tags
Appstle adds the tags to the order in Shopify shortly after the customer places it. You see them on the order page, and you can filter the Orders list in Shopify by tag.
Things to know
The date format also changes the order's Additional details. When a date tag is on, the Pickup Date, Delivery Date or Shipping Date under Additional details on the order uses the same format. With the date tag off, it shows year-month-day, for example 2026-08-17.
The clock option on the card doesn't change the time tag. The tag always shows the time the way customers see it in the cart. For 24-hour tags, such as 14:00 - 14:30, choose 24-hour clock under Settings → Standards and formats → Time format. This also shows 24-hour times in the cart.
Two options under Settings → Developers also add tags. The first, Add delivery, pickup and shipping day name to orders, tags each order with the day it was placed (by UTC time), not the day the customer chose, so an order can get two different day names. The second, Enable order checking, adds the tag ! to online store orders that are missing the AppstleID.
FAQs
Why aren't my orders tagged at all?
Appstle tags an order only when the customer chose Store pickup, Local delivery or Shipping in the Appstle widget before checkout. Orders placed without that choice, such as orders you create in Shopify admin, get no tags. Also check that you clicked Save after adding the tags: orders placed before that aren't tagged.
Why isn't the date or time tag on my orders?
The customer didn't choose a date or time, so there was nothing to tag. Check that the pickers are on for the method (see Before you start). To stop customers skipping the date, turn on Pickup date is required under Settings → Store pickup, or Delivery date is required or Shipping date is required below the date picker. For pickup, see also Choose the days customers can pick up orders and Set pickup times and time slots.
Why didn't my existing orders get the new tag?
Tags are added when an order is placed. Changing the settings, or removing a tag with its ×, doesn't tag or untag orders you already have.
I changed an order's date. Why does it still have the old date tag?
Appstle adds tags once, when the order is placed, and doesn't change or remove them later. After you change an order's date or time, edit its tags on the order page in Shopify.
Can I use different tags for different locations?
Yes. Add tags in the location's Pickup tags or Delivery tags card. Tags set under Settings apply to every location.
