The Behavior panel in the Loyalty design editor sets where sign-in and create account links go, what happens after customers copy or redeem a reward code, and whether messages and nudges show. Use it to send customers to your own pages, add reward codes to their cart for them, or turn messages and nudges on or off.
Nudges depend on your plan. If your plan doesn't include them, the editor says so next to the setting, with a View billing link.
Open the Behavior panel
In Appstle Loyalty, click Design.
Click Customize. The Loyalty design editor opens full screen.
Click Behavior in the list of panels on the left.
The Launcher and Loyalty page tabs at the top left decide which settings you see. Show a scrollbar in the popup and Keep reward forms open are on the Launcher tab only. Link for customers who can't join, Card title length and Card description length are on the Loyalty page tab only. Everything else is on both tabs.
If a group ends with a link that starts with Show, click it to see the rest of its settings.
Choose where links go
The settings in Links decide where customers go from the popup and the loyalty page. For a page on your store, enter a path that starts with /, such as /collections/all. Where a full web address is allowed, start it with https://.
Setting | What it does |
Sign-in link | Where Sign in sends customers. Leave it empty for your store's sign-in. You can enter a path like /account/login, which keeps the customer's market, or a full web address. |
Create account link | Where Create an account sends customers. Leave it empty for your store's sign-up page. You can enter a path like /pages/join, which keeps the customer's market, or a full web address. |
Link for customers who can't join | Where the Explore button sends signed-in customers who can't use loyalty: those your tag rules keep out, and customers you excluded. Leave it empty for your home page. |
Page to open after copying a code | Two seconds after a customer copies a reward code, this page opens. Only pages on your store work. In the cart rewards widget, it also stops the page from reloading after the code is added. |
Referral landing page | Where people go when they open a customer's referral link. It works only while your referral program is on. With Launcher and loyalty page or Launcher only, the popup opens on that page. Leave it empty to keep people on the page the link points to. With Loyalty page only, enter a path like /pages/rewards for a page that shows your loyalty page. Full web addresses don't work. Leave it empty to send people to your loyalty page. |
The editor checks each link when you leave the field and shows what to fix. In Sign-in link and Create account link, {{proxy_path_prefix}} becomes your loyalty page's address. For example, with new customer accounts, /customer_authentication/login?return_to={{proxy_path_prefix}} brings customers back to your loyalty page after they sign in.
Choose what happens after customers redeem or copy a code
The settings in Codes and cart decide what happens after customers redeem points for a reward or copy a reward code:
Setting | What it does |
Add the code to the cart after redeeming | After a customer redeems points for a discount code in the popup or on the loyalty page, the code is added to their cart, and the page reloads once it's there. Store credit rewards aren't affected. |
Add the code to the cart when copied | When a customer copies a reward code in the popup or on the loyalty page, it's added to their cart too. The cart rewards widget always adds the code, whatever this is set to. It's on by default. |
Reload after adding a free product | Reloads the page one second after a free product reward is added to the cart, so the cart shows it. |
Set messages, nudges and other options
The settings in Messages and more cover messages, nudges, dates and how reward cards behave:
Setting | What it does |
Show messages | Shows short confirmations and errors inside the popup, the loyalty page and the cart rewards widget, like when a code is copied. Nudges are separate. |
Message position | Shows while Show messages is on. Choose Top left, Top center, Top right, Bottom left, Bottom center or Bottom right. In the popup, messages show inside the popup. |
Show nudges | Signed-in customers see a small message at the bottom of your store pages when they earn points or redeem a reward, including when a redemption fails. Nudges don't show while Load loyalty only on the loyalty page is on. |
Show a scrollbar in the popup | Shows a scrollbar in the popup when its content is taller than the popup. |
Date format | How dates look in the popup and on the loyalty page, like points expiry and Activity history. Choose US English (default), Each customer's browser language or a specific language. |
Card title length | On the loyalty page, Ways to redeem titles are shortened to this many characters (100 when empty). The popup always shows full titles. |
Card description length | On the loyalty page, descriptions in Your rewards are shortened to this many characters (200 when empty). Ways to redeem descriptions always stop at 100 characters. The popup always shows full descriptions. |
How customers pick points | For dynamic discount rewards, where customers choose how many points to use, in the popup and on the Legacy page. Choose Number box or Slider. The Modern page always shows a number box. |
Keep reward forms open | In the popup, the birthday form and the dynamic discount points form show already open, instead of opening on click. |
Save your changes
Nothing changes on your store until you click Save in the top right corner. The editor confirms with Design saved.
Things to know
Show a scrollbar in the popup and Keep reward forms open are hidden while Loyalty page only is chosen under How customers reach loyalty. See Choose who sees loyalty and where it shows.
If your store still uses the Legacy page, Card title length and Card description length work differently. The help text under each setting explains how.
To change the wording customers see, use the Texts panel.
FAQs
Can I send customers to a different sign-in page?
Yes. Enter its path or full web address in Sign-in link, then click Save. Leave it empty to use your store's sign-in.
How do I add a reward code to the cart automatically?
Turn on Add the code to the cart after redeeming, then click Save. Add the code to the cart when copied is on by default, so a code a customer copies is added to their cart too.
Why does my store page reload after a customer redeems a reward?
Add the code to the cart after redeeming reloads the page once the code is in the cart, and Reload after adding a free product reloads it after a free product reward is added. Turn off the one you don't want, then click Save.
